Christmas is finally here! Even before the big day, there was much hoo-ha over Christmas greetings. A bakery chain, in order to keep its halal status, forbade the words Merry Christmas or X’mas on its cakes. The bakery chain apologised after the government announced that there is no restrictions on festive greetings on cakes. It seems that in 2020, the then religious affairs minister had said that it was okay for Christmas greetings on cakes ordered by customers. The minister said it was only wrong for cake shops to put on public display items bearing Christmas greetings. Now, you'd wonder if there's any difference.
