A Sarong to Wear

There have been many sarong tales lately. Sarong according to Wikipedia, is a large tube or length of fabric wrapped around the waist and worn by men and women throughout South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, the Horn of Africa, and on many Pacific islands. In the 1937 movie, The Hurricane and many other movies of the 30s and 40s, the late Dorothy Lamour  (inset) donned the sarong and had thus been nicknamed, The Sarong Girl. There are many Sarong girls, I suppose Maria Montez, Gilda Gray, Myrna Loy, Gene Tierney, Frances Farmer and Movita who wore the garment in movies and Sarong men too, the likes of Jon Hall, Ray Milland, Tyrone Power, Robert Preston, Sabu Dastagir ,Ralph Fiennes and even ex-007 James Bond star, Pierce Brosnan who wore one in The Thomas Crown Affair. If I am not mistaken, in Bali, if you are wearing short pants or skirts where you are likely to expose your  thigh, knee and feet, you are not allowed to enter the temples. Tourists thus are often given a sarong to wear before they make their entry. Nice gesture sometimes, when you are handed a sarong to wear...

And men and women could look good in it too!
