A Traveller's Tale: Ecological Succession at Work

There have been people settling in swampy areas in places like India and elsewhere, I read somewhere. The people who once settled in the swamps in Kalumpang Island, purportedly were short. They stood between 150-160 cm tall while the Perak Man whose skeletal remains were found in Lenggong, Perak stood at about 170 cm. These Kalumpang people were also said to have brought along bamboo plants which they could use to make tools and weapons. These plants were said to be not native to the area. Plants of the mangrove family like the Rhizophora are more suitable for the saline condition here. You would love to watch these native plants but pay attention, you would get to see more here. Ecological succession is definely at work here. The mangrove swamp would vanish suddenly, and you would see a young tropical forest! Nature can work its magic!

Could you spot ecological succession at work here?
