Last Christmas, I remember clearly my niece spent her Christmas with her husband and daughter in Penang. They had on Christmas Eve driven to Penang Island to their hotel somewhere near Gurney Plaza and I had taken the opportunity to hitch a ride to Green Lane to visit Thuan Hee. That night, I remember visiting a food court in Georgetown near Pengkalan Raja Tun Uda or Raja Tun Uda Jetty; this jetty is where one could take the trademark Penang ferry from the island to Butterworth and vice versa. Dinner was however at another food court; Penang is never short of food courts. I had Chee Cheong Fun, a Chinese food made from a wide strip of Shahe fen or rice noodles, eaten with gravy; and sate or satay, a dish consisting of barbequed diced or sliced chicken, beef, pork or other meats in skewers from the midrib of the coconut leaf, also eaten with some sort of peanut gravy. The latter is said to have originated from Java, Indonesia. In Penang, food is aplenty and that's paradise!
Can you identify which is Chee Cheong Fun and which is Satay?
