You can't please everybody! The edict to ban yoga practice among Muslims in Malaysia gets lots of attention. Adry Hemy Abdul Ghani writing from Jeddah said that it was puzzling that critism has come from both Muslims and Non-Muslims especially when the edict is from learned Islamic scholars as a guideline for Muslims only. Muslim cancer survivors who practise yoga to promote general wellbeing are disappointed over the edict. Malaysia Hindu Sangam president Datuk A. Vaithilingam said many Hindus have been deeply disturbed and the council must respect the sensitivities and feelings of people of other religions while giving guidance to Muslims. The edict has been put on hold in at least two states, Perak and Selangor. Elsewhere, a certain Dr.Renuka Karthikayan has suggested pilates instead.
