A Chinese Wedding

John Berger, an English novelist said that all weddings are similar but every marriage is different. Well, many weddings are not necessarily similar. There may not be a big crowd of guests like always since there are instances when we get to see young people, without the knowledge of their parents or next of kin, running off somewhere to be wed off by someone they barely know. Some weddings appear rather solemn especially when there is a priest in attendance to solemnize it but when you are talking about a Chinese wedding , it could be pretty noisy. Since the arrival of karaoke, Chinese wedding has never been the same. Both talented and untalented people have taken to the stage to show their prowess in singing. It could be a torture sitting through such wedding but then, if it is a wedding of someone you know for years, there is the joy of just being there! It was with the utmost joy then to see Soon Chye and Chin Har, both of whom I know, getting married...

Mmmm... Today all the world is mad about european middleage. There was a film in Soviet Russia, loved by everybody that was made all on the fact that everything is equal all over the country: wher you go you'll find the same architecture, the same buildings, the same streets, the same clothes, the same expression on the faces and as conseguence the same faces... All over the world you'll find the same McDonalds with the same hamburger inside it...

But those are symbols of our time and they are not bad.

Important is that the young girl and boy remember this day for all their life.

Oh! What's the title of the Russian film? We don't get to see Russian films here but I remember watching a beautiful Iranian movie about some children and a shoe they shared. And the Russian film you shared remind me of China during the time of Mao Tse Tung where everyone seemed to wear the same Mao costume. Wonder if there is any good in that. Important too that the young girl and boy cherish every moment they have together. Life is short and temporary!
