I remember the anti-war slogan Make love, not war in the 1960s which was used against the Vietnam War. The practice of free love was growing among the American youth then; hippies,  I presume, whom I think appear rather noble when you consider that nowadays, there are religious people  prescribing war to their followers for the slightest reason and  spew hatred in their preaching. That these preachers are placed in a pedestal by their followers speak volumes.
