Why are moths drawn towards a burning candle? If an entomologist were to have us believe, these have to be male moths. Moths flying towards the flame are actually attempting to mate. The infrared light spectrum emitted by the candle flame purportedly has the same frequencies as the light given off by the female moths' pheromones, or sex hormones. Only male moths would think that the candle flame is giving out sex signals, I suppose.
