Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Shah bin Syed Nor Al-Bukhary (inset)  is a fascinating man.Born into a mid-low class Malay family whose house was said to be without necessities and luxuries, the man who studied until Form Five and never went to University, is the richest Bumiputra corporate figure in Malaysia. Forbes placed him at number eight in the list of Malaysia's richest man. From selling vegetables, meat and even roti canai, a type of Indian-influenced flat bread, he has graduated to controlling a group of companies involving transportation, logistics, plantations, property development defense, armory, engineering and power generation. His group of companies reportedly has a combined debt of RM34.3 billion. Rich men has big debts!
