Kellie's Castle has a wine cellar and it is no wonder! William Kellie Smith, the Scottish planter who built the castle in Batu Gajah reportedly had meant the castle to be the hub for entertaining wealthy colonial planters in Malaya. The cellar there is a dark place and I suppose all wine cellars anywhere would be dark, too. Wines are supposed to be kept in the dark, away way from light, especially direct sunlight and fluorescent fixtures. UV rays supposedly give wines an unpleasant smell and that is why, I suppose, wine bottles are dark in colour and even wrapped up in a cloth or kept in a box. There is a reason for some of the things we do!
You'd probably want to keep your wine here!
