Did not remember seeing Japan's Himeji Castle(inset) in Akira Kurosawa's Kagemusha and Ran but read that besides being featured in the two said movies, the castle had also been featured in many other Japanese and non-Japanese movies as well, including one of the 007 James Bond's movies, You Only live twice. Castles abound in Europe and the Middle East and it is not surprising since the fortified structure is actually a European innovation and had been built since the fall of the Carolingian Empire in the 9th and 10th century. The series of religious wars against the Muslims that had been blessed by the Pope, The Crusades - probably led to many more castles like Syria's Crac des Chevaliers being built in the Middle East. Elsewhere, like in Malaysia, most probably you'd be surprised to hear that the country has her very own castle - Kellie's castle. You don't have to build castles in the air if you have one at your doorstep!
Can you identify which is Malaysia's very own Kellie's Castle?
