A Traveller's Tale: Keep your Eyes Open!

I suppose it is not only in Pulau Duyung Besar, Terengganu that one can see people making boats in Malaysia. There, supposedly world famous boat makers build row boats, deep-sea fishing boats and luxury yachts from memory and experience, and without blueprints and nails. In Kuala Sepetang, there is a small dying group of people who make fishing boats. They probably do not use blueprints and nails too but God knows - Unlike Pulau Duyung Besar, you don't get to stroll from one workshop to another to see the craftsmen at work here. Just take a stroll in the densely populated haphazard Chinese village near the town area and just hope you don't miss the boat building workshop. Keep your eyes open!
