A Traveller's Tale: In Search of Pulau Aman

While I was in Penang Island during last year's Christmas Eve, last year's Christmas Day was not spent there. Early the next morning, on Christmas Day itself, Thuan Hee drove me out of the island via the Penang Bridge. We were to spend a night in his ancestral home in Sungai Bakap but before that, we were set for some adventures yet. We were out in search of Pulau Aman, a little known little little island with an area of a mere 115-hectare. It is supposed to be an idyllic fishing village with a population of only three hundred but beats me, we couldn't find the island. Instead, we got acquainted with the Batu Kawan area where the Penang Second Bridge linking the mainland to Batu Maung is to be built. It is a pretty isolated area, this Batu kawan area but I suppose all that will change when the bridge is completed. Things are impermanent, as they say, and this change most probably is for the better. Touch wood!
