Dressed to Kill

According to today's Star paper, Kosmo! reported that a Syariah judge in Malaysia ticked off a model, Shafnie Zainudin, after he found her attire to be highly unsuitable for a Syariah court hearing. The model had worn a long-sleeved blouse with a tight fitting vest and long black pants. You are not here for a photo shoot. Wearing a vest over a blouse makes it look as if you are going for war, the judge had said before telling the model's lawyer to advise her client on the dress code for appearing in a Syariah court. Syariah, by the way refers to Islamic religious laws which have jurisdiction upon every Muslims in Malaysia and it is one of the two separate system of courts which exists in the Malaysian legal system, the other being secular and applies to non-Muslims especially. Shafnie who was a Muslim was in the syariah court to get a ruling to commit her ex-husband, actor AC Mirzal, to jail for contempt of court, as he had failed to settle child-support payments totalling RM50,000 for their two children. With money at stake, I suppose some other people would put war paint on their faces and dressed to kill too..

The sad thing is the strange lawyers. If you have the wrong people on top, everything that goes down below will not be up to expectation.

At one time, I read about China's Mao Tse Dung, sending his son to war in Korea and he was killed there. I thought I haven't come across a leader who will do that. His daughters have to lead a normal life too, going to local schools, and not foreign boarding schools, going through the grinds of a normal life. I don't think the children were successful and rich like the children of many other leaders. But that was a book published by China. Books published by Western publishers will highlight other things like sexual scandals etc and I don't worry so much about which version to believe. But the thing is, you can't be very nice and to everyone if you are at the top. Otherwise, things could not get done.

More or less similar stories are told about Stalin too. But it is not a right thing to decide if he is good or wrong person for all the nation. From other side, it's really impossible to be good for everybody. Specially for a country like China or SU or only one part of it, Russia. And it's not necessary, I think.

I think so too.I believe Stalin and Mao Tse tung both have their good qualities; that's why they are accepted by their people.
