Cars with Flags

It has been reported that the high cost of petrol and the rising inflation has led many people in Kuala Lumpur to opt for public transport like the KTM Komuter and LRT in Malaysia. Many people now park their vehicles at the open car parks at the light rail transit and train stations and then board the train to work. The high cost of petrol as well as inflation seem to have dampen this year Merdeka Day Celebration too. 31 August is Merdeka Day or Independence day for Malaysia. For the past few years, there was a trend of buying a miniature national flag and attaching it to the roof of the car in August to mark the special occasion. This year, I have only seen just one miserable car on the road with the national flag. A colleague told me that for the price of one flag, one could get almost a liter of petrol. Another colleague pointed out that not having a flag on the roof of your car however does not mean that you do not love your country. Something just doesn't show I suppose...
