A Traveller's Tale: A Rosy Future

Gunung Jerai is supposed to be Kedah's premier hill resort. My friends who had been there said it was a beautiful place and some literature I came across described it as a place with a long history; relics having been found there at the foot, notably in Lembah Bujang or Bujang Valley that proved that a Hindu-Buddhist civilisation had been there in the fourth century. A blood loving, Dracula-like king, Raja Bersiong or King of Fangs is believed to have his kingdom there too. When my friends and I visited the hill resort however, we found that there had been for the past one year, a decrease in visitors. Before, visitors could stay overnight in chalets but this service had been unavailable for quite some time now. New accommodations had been built and while that promised a rosy future, the construction work that was going on there was an eyesore. The present always seem dreary compared to the future...
