It was raining heavily when a 13 year old boy jumped into the 3m-deep water of a monsoon drain to check its depth. It was all about a RM10 bet (less than US $5). Unfortunately, the boy was washed away by the strong current and his three friends who abetted him and witnessed the incident, for fear of trouble, kept mum until interrogated by the boy's parents. The boy was found dead five days later at a mine, a few kilometres from the monsoon drain. Now, who are our friends, I wonder and is life that cheap?
