Love and War


Sun Zi's Art of War, a book written by Sun Wu is said to be the oldest Chinese military work as well as the oldest work of military theory in the world. It has been well-known for a long time not only in China, having created fervour in Japan, Europe and America. The book was brought to Japan around the 7th century and since then the major ideas in many well-known ancient Japanese books on warfare were derived from it. In the west, the book is translated by a French missionary Amor into French in the 18th century and published in Paris in1782. Napoleon Bonaparte, the general of the French Revolution who made a clean sweep of Europe studied it. From then on, the book was translated into English, Russian, Italian, German and the Czech language. In America, the chairman of the Republican Party Arthur Walter praised it as the only document on war strategy with the most extensive knowledge and profound scholarship he had ever read. The fact that the whole world raves about the book reveal man's true nature.
