Inspired!

Christmas is over but it is still bringing in cheer to some people! Remember my post on Christmas in Kuala Lumpur? One of the shopping malls won the first prize in the Best Decorated Mall Contest for Christmas 2007 organized by Tourism Malaysia in conjunction with the Malaysia Year-End Sale 2007. Mid Valley Megamall added another feather to its cap when it bagged the grand prize of RM10,000 cash, a trophy and certificate. Kung Suan Ai, director of advertising and promotions of the Megamall had said that their Christmas theme, Fairy Whispers, was inspired by the famous book by William Shakespeare, Midsummer Night’s Dream. An enchanted forest where fairies roam in the magical world of the unknown had been created and at Centre Court, a landscape of wild beauty, with glowing fairy lights, dainty ornaments and wild flower garlands had been created to be amazed. I am just amazed that old books are still relevant and still inspire!

This evening I went to cut my hair and have seen many magazines with hair models. They all were inspired by this or that book. And somebody says they never read...

Anytime Ely! Merry Christmas to you too! And how is your day?

Oh! I happen to see someone's profile in which it is stated that he has no time to read. What do you think of people who don't have time to read, Liudmila?

When I had to work so much that had not time for anything, I learned to read when I eat. I had not other time for it. I had not time for anything else only for job. It's not good for health, I know, but I need reading as I need breath.

All the persons that live near me had never read one book in their life. It's their existance. They (women) only wash floors, cook and explore what neighbours do and have. I don't know, I think they are more happy in their life. They have "stable" minds that don't need to learn, to explore, to discover.

It's an other dimension of life, I think.

I think many people are like that, wash floors, cook and explore what the neighbors do etc. It's fun sometimes if you don't ask for much but I don't think you like that, do you? I wouldn't want that too because then, you'll be like everyone else , even like animals going through life aimlessly and walking towards death . Maybe, what we can do is create a balance, walk the middle way. If the guitar string is too taut , like us wanting to get everything out of life, we are bound to break. If the guitar string is too loose, like them just going through the motion of life, nothing meaningful like music can come out from the guitar. Maybe, we wash clothes too, cook too and explore too, with the intention to help. Like a Boddhisatvas, suffering perhaps in the process , for the good of mankind.

What can I say to you? The dance we are dancing is too complicate for our understanding, I think. And there is somebody who shows us our way if we don't understand it.

When I experienced the death, it was the greatest joy in my life. But I could not die difenitively else.
After that I wanted the death. Because I knew now, that the life is only sufferings. Remember the 4 Truths? So, I learned the first.

I decided to die. To finish sufferings. But in this moment somebody wanted to show me the Great Bliss. Here, in the life. And I knew that after the death (in that moment for me) will be not solution, but new circle of sufferings. I have to finish THIS circle.

Somebody wanted something from me. I looked for it here and there. Finally I found buddhismus, began to practice -and somebody was very happy about it and helped me to understand.

The world is perfect so as it is. Everybody has his part to dance in this performance. One is more luminous, other not. Who is more luminous has to illuminate how much he can. This light has not to be off. We have not to judge the Perfection, we have illuminate. With our understanding, our knowlege, our Compassion, Unconditional Love. But not change with force. Only illuminate.

Hi footiam,

Happy New Year. All the best to you and your family and in everything in your life.

Cheers!

BTW, we have our own megamalls over here mostly owned by Henry Sy of Shoemart and Banco de oro.

I think I can understand and identify with what you say and go through. Everyone should go through one kind of pain or another and there is a reason for it. But in the four noble truth, there is also a way too to stop this suffering and I believe the practice of the five percepts and understanding the way these suffering works as explained in the four noble truth will not only help ease this pain. We ought only to have the right attitude and whatever things that we don't like and would like to change could only be within ourselves. Other people may not do things according to our way and we many not like it but we should understand that they have to go through life themselves. We may try to change them by pointing the way, the rest is up to them. If they want to create their own bad karma, so be it, we have to let go and understand the fact that we are not God and cannot be a perfect agent of change. If we manage to change someone, fine. If not fine. The only one we need to clean up is ourselves and that begin with our mind. For me, right now, I am just glad I am living and being aware. I am glad to be mindful.

Yes, I know there are many malls there in Metro Manila. I have been there and really I enjoy going to Robinson near Baywalk.I posted my trip to Manila sometime ago, it's not a complete post but do have a look at Edna and the American soldier Memorial somewhere in http://travelpangs.blogspot.com,,won't you?

And if you don't mind, if I ask, what is Ibanag? Is a type of Filipino dialect?

I don't remember the source of this thought: Buddha has infinite Compassion for us and he is that who knows. If he could, he would liberate all us from suffering. But he can't change us. He can only show us the Way. It's for us, where we will go.

And the second part of this thought: if he doesn't change us, what sense is that WE want to change other persons?

Changing another person is not for us to do, I guess. Since there is no need to change another person, we can just observe and be mindful of other people, that they are just cooking, washing and living their lives very unlike ours and which we may find hateful. Knowing that perhaps, we can live with equanimity.
