Clock for thought

In school, we used to play this. Someone would stand with his back towards us. He would be Mr. Wolf. The other children would ask loudly, what’s the time, Mr. Wolf? One o’clock, he said and we would walk one step, two o’clock, and we walked two steps and so on. If Mr. Wolf happened to see us moved when he turned round, we’d better run because he would eat us up. I bet Mr. Wolf would not be able to tell us the time if he had a clock like the one shown above unless of course, he could count. Even then, he would not be able to tell the time immediately. I wonder why one must count when one can just see. Why do people always make life more difficult than it already was?
