Pray for the best

I read in the internet that a terminally ill cancer patient paid RM40,000 to have her blood made into a serum. The serum was supposed to cure her but it did not. In fact, the poor woman died. I was reminded of an Australian monk who in one of his sermons, told of how dying people made vows to either shave their head bald or convert to another religion if their lives are prolonged. He wondered aloud if the hair is a valuable item and that it matters so much whether a person converts or not. The point is people often barter with God, thinking they are up there at the same high pedestal. For me, being a lowly creature, I would rather ask for immortality.
