Traveling alone has its advantages. One doesn’t have to worry about other people wanting to do what one doesn’t, or worry about spending too much or not enough time on a given place at the expense of others. One needs to enjoy being alone nevertheless. If feeling of boredom arises, the whole trip will be meaningless. This perhaps can be overcome by going exploring, writing a travel journal, treating oneself to a good meal or merely picking up a book to read. Boredom can also be kept at bay if you pick up a chat with someone sitting next to you. On a personal level, it always surprised me indeed that any plain looking Tom, Dick or Harry whom I had a brush with during my travels often turned out to be nicer than expected and one even will learn a thing or two from him. Meeting someone new is always refreshing, sometimes even intoxicating but just remember that, no matter how nice someone you have just met seems to be, your friends and loved ones at home with their stale looks and boring, predictable manners will always be the ones that you have to live with and they are the ones who matter. While one has to learn to live alone, enjoy being alone, one must not deny oneself the joy of having someone else’s company. When you are traveling alone then, contemplate on your friends and loved ones for they are the one who travel with you on your life’s journey. Appreciate them and love them and your travel in life will be smooth sailing. Touch wood!
