A Traveller's Tale: Streets of Melaka

Malacca, small it may be but it is what the local calls, Negeri Bersejarah or The Historic State. One of the earliest Malay sultanates was located here but since 1511 after the Portuguese conquered, there is no Sultan as the head of the state. Portuguese had put an end to monarchy. Malacca, said to be a Malay fishing village before the arrival of the first sultan, Parameswara, today looks more like a Chinatown. When you walk the streets of Malacca, you would strive to imagine that once, it was but a little fishing village...It is hard to imagine!
