Seeing Mooncakes!

The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated by Chinese all over the world. It must be barely a month ago since the festival ended and I am still seeing mooncakes. My niece had made all sorts of mooncakes, traditional mooncakes, Japanese, Shanghai mooncakes and some cute colorful mooncakes. Oh, just feast your eyes...

Traditional Mooncakes...

Shanghai Mooncakes...

Japanese Mooncakes...

Mooncakes, Mooncakes...

I am seeing and dreaming mooncakes...

Mooncakes are yummy, yummy and sweet too especially if you buy them from the shop. My niece made our own stock of mooncakes, so she did not make it so sweet and as to the ingredients, I think you'd use flour, sugar and definitely eggs if you put the yolk inside, oh I should have cut the mooncake to show how it look like with the yolk inside. In the past, to overthrow the Mongols, I think, the Chinese put notes inside to keep in touch with each other but then, that was really, really ancient history. I don't know much of the past and I don't really know much of the ingredients for the mooncakes. I just eat them!
I didn't know there were so many different kinds of mooncakes ... LOL!

Dear Nick, the traditional mooncake has traveled a long way and has evolved. There are many more types, I am sure and that goes for the fillings. I sure wish I can some to you, kuririn and me! I sure do!
