Modern Chinese Lanterns

Traditionally, during the Mooncake festival , Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomeloes . Barbecues will be held outside under the moon and children will carry brightly lit lanterns . These lanterns used to be modeled after flowers or animals using colorful glass paper but today, you can find in shops and supermarkets, plastic lanterns modeled after popular cartoon figures such as Superman, Doraemon, Spiderman etc... In the past, candles were also used to light up the lanterns but today, the lanterns comes from a little bulb run by a battery. The lanterns thus do not get burn easily and they are not so much fun!
